A First Nations academic says it is important to get clarity on many concepts within First Nations communities is we are to have discussions involving treaty or sovereignty.
The comment comes following criticisms of a New South Wales university who suggested within their diversity kit guidelines that Australia was invaded rather than settled.
Awabakal man Terry Mason says while their guideline is based off a 20 year old document, he welcomes it as an opposition to open the debate up instead of shutting it down.
