The author of The History Wars says while the term ‘invasion’ is still questioned and objected to, he says many of the arguments against it are less commonly supported these days.
The History Wars was written by Stuart Forbes Macintyre and published in 2003 in response to a book written by Keith Windschuttle titled The Fabrication of Aboriginal History which challenged the evidence of First Nations’ history, with the view of Australia being settled peacefully.
The book written by Mr Macintyre explored how it suits some historians to entertain false facts.
Mr Macintyre says while prejudice and discrimination still exist, the claims that Australia was settled peacefully have no credibility.
