A prominent social commentator and advocate is accusing the Federal Government of blackmailing communities throughout consultations of the Healthy Welfare Card.
Professor Eva Cox alleges the income management scheme is being pushed onto First Nations groups to accept in exchange for long-sought after essential services.
The current implementations of the card which is a recommendation from Mining Magnate Andrew Forrest’s Creating Parity report are so far just planned trials.
Professor Cox told 98.9fm the data collected at the end of the trial will be inaccurate if support services and the Healthy Welfare Card are introduced at the same time.
