A debut feature film from a Nyul Nyul Yawuru Director has rolled out across cinemas nationally.

‘Sweet As’ from Western Australia’s Jub Clerc tells the story of Murra, a young Aboriginal girl from a troubled family who finds a passion for photography while on a retreat for youth at risk.

The story was inspired by a real life photo safari with National Geographic that Clerc took as a 14 year old.

‘Sweet As’ follows the group of young people and their two adult companions as they travel by bus through the stunning landscapes of the Pilbara region while set against an all Indigenous soundtrack.

The film premiered at the 2022 Melbourne International Film Festival where it won the Innovation Award, it won Best Film from the Asia/Pacific region at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival in Canada and in February this year, it won the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
