A West Australian campaign is pushing for the state government to revive a twenty year old plan to convert 66 neglected properties into Indigenous ranger parks.

The properties – scattered around West Australia – make up more than five million hectares and were purchased by the state government in the 1990s as part of a plan to protect the state’s landscape and wildlife.

Many of the properties have gone under-managed as the plan was put aside by successive state governments.

With the state elections coming in March, a new campaign is seeking to push the plan back onto the agenda.

WA Outback Manager with Pew Charitable Trusts David Mackenzie says the proposal will deliver multiple benefits in regional and remote West Australia.
