A Queensland MP has hit out at the University if the Sunshine Coast for playing an alternate version of the National Anthem at an official event.
The alternate version, which included references to First Nations heritage, was played as part of the Universities 20th anniversary commemorations.
New lyrics amended refereed to honoring the dreaming and combining ancient history and cultures.
Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie, who attended the event says he was disappointed and offended and it’s important to stand against it because it’s wrong.
The university reportedly favored the version by Judith Durham because Advance Australia Fair doesn’t represent contemporary views.
