Dozens of vigils have been held across the country on Wednesday for Cassius Turvey, the 15-year-old Noongar Yamatji boy who was allegedly murdered while walking home from school last month.

Large crowds gathered in major cities to in a massive show of anger and grief to mourn the teenager and to call for change.

Cassius died after he was allegedly attacked by a 21-year-old man with a metal pole while he walked home from school in Perth north-east suburbs in October.

Bundjalung/Gumbaynggirr man and country singer Troy Cassar-Daley attended the Brisbane vigil and said he had been really affected as a father by Cassius’ death.
