AFL – The  AFL is moving forward with its plans to establish a national womens competition in  2017.

The first step will be an AFL driven campaign targeting the top female athletes from other sports.

The AFL will run talent identification days in  capital cities across the country in January will selected athletes to be offered places in female state academies.

The face of the campaign will be Melbourne star Daisy Pearce (pictured) who herself defected  to AFL after being omitted from the Australian squad for the Womens Soccer World Cup.
