Brisbane Lions player Callum Ah Chee has called out racist abuse he’s received on social media after being concussed in a game against Carlton.
Ah Chee will miss the Lions’ clash against St Kilda on Friday under the AFL’s mandatory concussion protocols, after Carlton captain Patrick Cripps was cleared of a two-game rough conduct charge on Ah Chee.
The 24-year-old posted the abusive comments to his Instagram story, writing it was “not something you want to wake up to.”
“If my son grows up playing the game, I hope he doesn’t have to deal with this hate,” Ah Chee said.
“It hurts and I’m sick to death of seeing it.”
The incidents have been reported to the AFL’s integrity unit which issued a statement on Friday condemning the behaviour.
