In response to a report on rising crime rates in areas such as Alice Springs, the Northern Territory’s Chief minister Natasha Fyles will meet with the Prime Minister to discuss how to implement the report’s recommendations.

A big point of discussion is expected to be whether the Territory should reinstate sweeping takeaway alcohol bans like the temporary ones seen currently in Alice Springs.

The Chief Minister told media that any solution was still on the table.

“We want to make sure that as we step forward, that these are thought-out and based on evidence,” she said.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Fyles said that the meeting with the Prime Minister will look at ways to implement long and lasting change.
