A Torres Strait Islander man has been awarded for his work in raising awareness about the risks of climate change to the Torres Strait communities.

The Torres Strait Regional Authority’s Senior Community Liaison Officer Vic McGrath was honoured this week as a Climate Adaptation Champion and acclaimed for his vital contributions to community engagement.

Mr McGrath was acclaimed for his ability to work with and between cultural, scientific and governance domains.

Mr McGrath said the isolation of the Torres Strait means it is often left out of climate change discussions.
