A young Indigenous educator from the remote community of Hart’s Range has taken out the school-based Trainee of the Year award in Alice Springs.

Debbon Webb was presented with the 2016 Group Training Northern Territory award for his achievements in his Certificate III in Education Support.

Mr Webb has been working at Bradshaw School supporting the learning of First Nation’s children for over a year and is the first member of his immediate family to finish high school.

He says he has enjoyed being a part of the school and that schools in the Northern Territory need more Indigenous educators to help bridge the gap.

Bradshaw School Assistant Principal Jennie Ward says Mr Webb is a role model for younger students and older people alike for his self-belief and determination.
