The Lead Convener of the Coalition of Peaks says they would have preferred to keep the Closing the Gap campaign linked to the anniversary of the apology to the Stolen Generations.
While marking the 13th anniversary of the apology to the Stolen Generations, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that the Government will report on Closing the Gap in July.
Since the Close the Gap campaign started 13 years ago, the Prime Minister has reported on targets while marking the apology anniversary.
CEO of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, Pat Turner says while the announcement was the Government’s decision, she would prefer to keep the two events linked.
