The Greater Brisbane area will go into a three-day lockdown from 5pm Monday following a rise in cases overnight. Four new cases overnight have taken the state’s new cases to 10.

Those living in Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and Moreton areas will be required to remain home during the lockdown with for essential reasons like grocery shopping, exercise, work and medical care.

Schools will also be closed for the next three days starting Tuesday.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the measures are necessary in order to avoid a longer lockdown.

“Let’s do it now, and let’s do it right,” she told reporters on Monday.

“We’ll be reviewing it Wednesday night, we’ll know if there’s any more community transmission. The last thing we want to see is our roads clogged on Thursday night heading for Easter vacation.
