Over the weekend, Meeanjin played host to the Brisbane Blacks Live Music festival at Riverside Green in South Bank.
Led by Triple A, formerly known as 98.9 FM, the free event featured a diverse line-up of deadly Indigenous acts including Miiesha, Beddy Rays, Troy Cassar-Daley, Mack Rdige, and Mop and the Dropouts whose 1982 anthem ‘Brisbane Blacks’ inspired the festival’s namesake.
As many as 2,000 people turned out for the family friendly event to dance, listen to music, and celebrate coming together to protect our communities ahead of Queensland’s border reopening, which is just days away.
CEO of Triple A and Bidjara man Jyi Lawton used the day to officially announce the Indigenous radio station’s return to their roots.
