Sam Thaiday will play his 29th Test match for Australia when the Kangaroos run out to take on the Kiwis in Newcastle on Friday night.

It’s the first match in charge of the national team for coach Mal Meninga and he has chosen a side full of veterans that should be best able to deal with the limited preparation they have going into the match.

Broncos veteran Thaiday (pictured) knows that at the age of 30, his days in representative footy must be numbered and he’ll be doing his best to make the coaches first game a winning one.
