Yawuru man Pat Dodson has been officially sworn in as a Western Australian Labor Senator this morning.
Senator Dodson replaces Joe Bullock, who quit politics in April over the Labor party’s stance on same sex marriage.
He was nominated for the position last week by Premier Colin Barnett and was seconded by Opposition Leader Mark McGowan.
His appointment to the senate comes as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is expected to call a double dissolution within the next few days.
