The AFL have confirmed the $80’000 in fines handed down to the North Melbourne footy club and coach Brad Scott (pictured) for the coaches comments following the narrow loss to Hawthorn on Friday night.
Scott delivered a broadside to the umpires, claiming that Roos forward Lindsay Thomas was not being paid free kicks by umpires because he ducked into tackles.
Scott later withdrew the comments saying he’d been misinformed but AFL Football Operations boss Mark Evans said the penalties, $30’000 of which would be paid by the coach, were warranted as they called into question the integrity of the AFLs umpiring ranks.
