For the second year in a row Australia has recorded more than 100,000 newly diagnosed cases of diabetes, according Diabetes Australia.

The figures were released today as part of World Health Day, which is this year being used to highlight the major global health challenges presented by the disease.

CEO of Diabetes QLD  Michelle Trute says a diagnosis of diabetes doesn’t have to be inevitable in First Nation’s communities.

Ms Trute says the steps to prevention require a nationwide approach.
