A joint state and federal government initiative has led to a new telecommunications mobile base station in the Banana Shire to boost mobile phone coverage in the Jambin area.
The Jambin base station, west of Gladstone on the Burnett Highway, is one of 68 new or upgraded mobile base stations being installed in Queensland under the Commonwealth Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program.
The program has been designed to boost mobile phone coverage for local residents in light of the news that some people failed to receive emergency warnings before the arrival of Cyclone Marcia.
