Ash Barty has recorded the biggest win of her tennis career ahead of the US Open next week.
Playing in the second round of the Cincinatti Open, the Ngarigo woman (pictured) beat Venus Williams, the 9th ranked player in the world 6 – 3. 2 – 6, 6 – 2 to book a third round clash with world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki.
It was Barty’s frst ever defeat of a top ten player and a sure sign that she’ll be an opponent to be respected next week at Flushing Meadow.
