Sydney Swans defender Aliir Aliir (pictured) has helped to kick of the AFL’s Multicultural Round ahead of the Swans vital Round 16 clash with the Cats on Friday night.
Aliir came to Australia as a refugee from Africa and has begun cementing his spot in the Swans side this season after solid performances in the NEAFL.
Aliir’s cousin Thon Maker, who also spent timing growing up in Australia has just been drafted by NBA team the Milwaukee Bucks and Aliir is looking forward to catching up with his cousin when the occasion allows him to get to the US.
