West Australian coroner Ros Fogliani is set to head to the Kimberley region to investigate the suicide of 13 young Aboriginal people in the area.
The coronial inquest comes ten years after another inquest by her predecessor into the suicide of 22 Aboriginal people – described by Labor Senator Pat Dodson at the time as a “national emergency.”
Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar told the ABC there had been little change in that time, despite a wide range of recommendations stemming from that inquest and other investigations.
The state coroner will arrive in Broome on Monday.
