As part of a national action, demonstrators held a 10 hour long vigil outside of the Visa and Citizenship Office in Brisbane’s CBD on Monday.

Displaying signs that read #BringThemHere the group read the Nauru Files, 2000 leaked incident reports which have shone light on the ongoing abuse of refugees in one of Australia’s offshore detention facilities.

Peter Brandjerdporn is an organiser for “Love Makes a way” – A Christian led movement advocating for the closure of offshore detention centres.

Mr Brandjerdporn says that the demonstration was sombre and that they were trying to honour those who have been traumatised.

Following the demonstration in Brisbane, vigils will be held in Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
