A Lead Researcher at the Australian National University school of Archaeology and Anthropology says the wider Australian public miss out on a breadth of knowledge because education is monolingual.
On Koori radios Blackchat program, host Lola Forrester spoke to Dr Diana James about her work with First Nations people and the many different languages the Aboriginal people speak.
Dr James has been asked by senior Nudinjara, Pitindjara and Yunkinjara members to help record elders knowledge for future generations.
She says it’s important to have everything recorded correctly for the tribes archive as it will be thrilling when it is finally released to the general public to experience.
