The Congress of Australia’s First Peoples has issued a survey to its 6,000 members on what congress should support or disregard in relation to Aboriginal people.
Some of the questions asked were whether the Commonwealth should have power to make laws for our people and whether Congress should support a ban on racial discrimination.
Members were also asked if they support Noel Person’s plan of an advisory body to scrutinise legislation that affects our people, with 70.3 percent supporting the idea.
The survey also shows the 68.8 percent of respondents support a treaty as a first priority before constitutional recognition.
