A Juru man who started a petition this week to protect cultural sites threatened by the Adani mining project says the Indian mining giant threatened to move straight to compulsory acquisition if he brought up the issue again.
Native title claimant Andrew Morrel requested a 50 metre buffer zone at the proposed port location to protect cultural sites along the beach.
Mr Morrel says Adani didn’t allow for anything outside of their footprint to be included in cultural heritage reports.
