The CEO of Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation in Western Australia says the Indigenous Advancement Strategy has dispossessed First Nations organisations of their financial resources.

The WA Indigenous Affairs Minister Peter Collier knocked back the idea of a royal commission into suicides, saying the problem has been in service delivery.

Bibbulman man, Robert Eggington says funding services for our people shouldn’t be based on people’s materialistic wealth, because anyone can contemplate something like suicide whether they are employed or not.

He says First Nations services need to be directly funded because they understand the dispossession, disinheritance and displacement affecting our people as a result of ‘white establishment’.
