A push by liquor outlets in the Kimberly to ease restrictions on sales has been rejected by both the Western Australian and Federal governments.

Outlets in Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing are only allowed to sell light- strength takeaways as a result of women in the region campaigning to address violence and excessive drinking.

Retailers say easing restrictions are needed to tackle sly-grogging which emerged when restrictions came about.

The WA government rejected the idea citing positive changes within Halls Creek and the Federal government has reaffirmed their support of current restrictions.
