The 2012 Brownlow Medal has been presented to retrospective winners Sam Mitchell and Trent Cotchin.
The pair finished second originally behind Essendons Jobe Watson, who was later banned for drug use during the 2012 season.
For Mitchell, while it was a slightly surreal experience, he says the drawn out affair doesn’t detract from the legitimate awarding of the medal to he and Richmond champion Cotchin.
