South Australia’s Indigenous Affairs minister Kyam Maher says a treaty with First Nations people will formally acknowledge the cultural authority of Aborigional people as well as address some effects of colonisation.

The State Government announced they will enter negotiations with individual First Nations groups and has set aside $4.5 million for the process.

Mr Maher says it is the necessary and logical next step.
