Members of the Ipswich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community attended the Queensland Truth and Treaty Community yarns this week.
Over the last few months, the Interim Truth and Treaty Body have been travelling across Queensland listening to the aspirations, ideas and concerns of communities’ as they work to establish key structures that will move the state’s truth-telling, healing, and treaty journey forward.
The meeting, south of Brisbane saw more than 30 Elders, young people and other community members participate in today’s session with many asking questions about the process so far.
It was led by Aunty Cheryl Buchanan and Uncle Mick Gooda who explained where the Treaty process was up to.
Ipswich local, Uncle Ralph says he likes what he’s heard so far about how Treaty will work.
Another participant, Ray says he came along to learn more.
