A 25-year-old Townsville man has been charged with murder after a “vigilante” pursuit he was engaged in led to the death of a 22-year-old woman.
Jennifer Board died in Townsville on Friday night after she was hit by the man’s car after he rammed the back of a stolen vehicle.
Police say the man had been “aggressively” following the stolen car and lost control after allegedly ramming into it and crossing the road where he collided with the woman’s motorcycle.
The case has raised the question of vigilantism in the north Queensland community, as police warn it would lead to further tragedies.
Townsville Indigenous Elder Russel Butler told the ABC the city has a long history of vigilantism.
