Past political contender for the Federal seat of Kennedy currently held by Bob Katter, in northern Queensland, says she is hoping to increase awareness about the rate cancer in First Nations communities.
Former Coalition candidate, Noeline Ikin has been forced out of the upcoming federal election after learning she has a brain tumour.
Although she says she wants to use her struggle to help educate our mob about regular health checks.
Ms Ikin says she has done a lot of work with Indigenous communities and feels that the fear factor associated with cancer is higher perhaps than it is in other parts of the country.
She says she intends to learn and share with others and encourage people not to be afraid and make sure they get regular check-ups.
