A Western Arrernte man has become the first Indigenous person to complete the world’s six greatest marathons.
There are six major marathon events in the World Marathon Majors which are held in Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York and London.
Charlie Maher from central Australia competed in and finished the London marathon with a time of three hours fifty minutes, on Sunday London time.
It’s a journey he began 12 years ago with Rob de Castella’s Indigenous Marathon Project.
Maher told the ABC that he enjoys making his community proud.
