The Sydney Roosters have partnered with Deadly Choices in a partnership paying homage to one of the club’s legends – former rugby great Arthur ‘Artie’ Beetson.
A legend of the game, Beetson is also remembered for his vision of ensuring the ongoing availability of quality health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people around Australia.
The Roosters’ Deadly Choices shirts are emblazoned with artwork featuring Beetson’s own likeness, as portrayed by his niece, artist Bianca Beetson.
The shirts will be available as an incentive for any Indigenous person who undertakes a 715 health check at a participating community-controlled health clinic throughout Australia.
The Roosters’ Deadly Choices shirts are emblazoned with artwork featuring Beetson’s own likeness, as portrayed by his niece Bianca Beetson, who says it was important to honour her uncle’s legacy.
“He’s played a very important part in our life as a family but it’s also been about what he’s done for community and I don’t think we realised until he passed away just how much he has done for community.
He’d give his last ten dollars to someone who’d broken down and needed money for petrol for their car. He was just such a great person and for us to be able to continue his legacy is really important.
