Queensland’s Interim Truth and Treaty Body is in Cunnamulla today before visiting Charleville on Thursday, getting the community’s views and concerns on setting up key structures to progress treaty in the state.
The independent Body which co-designed the state’s Path to Treaty Bill with government and is responsible for establishing a First Nations Treaty Institute and Truth-telling and Healing Inquiry has been hosting the Community Yarning Sessions around the state and updating Queenslanders on its next steps.
Sallyanne Atkinson a Former Brisbane lord mayor and Co-chair of the 10-person Truth and Treaty Body says Queenslanders are ready for Treaty, and part of that process is understanding, recognising, and accepting the past.
