An independent MLA in the Northern Territory says the government has been in a rush to address youth crime in the Territory and the latest proposal is just another band aid.
The Northern Territory Government on Wednesday introduced a new bill that would see bail revoked for violent offenders participating in crimes involving a restricted weapon, whether or not they were holding it.
The move comes after the recent fatal stabbing of a 20 year old bottle shop worker in Darwin.
Chief Minister Natasha Fyles says the bill is in line with community expectations.
Independent member for Mulka in Arnhem Land, Yingiya Guyula disagrees and says communities want solutions that address the causes of crime.
