The national peak for Indigenous legal services says the Federal Government’s latest budget makes the lives of rich people better while poor people bare the brunt of being left behind by the Government.
Co-Chair of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services, Nerita Waight says not allocating legal services any extra funding as well as cutting both JobKeeper and JobSeeker will see our people entrenched in poverty and further dragged into the criminal legal system.
Ms Waight says she would have like to see more funding for legal services and some certainty for the National Family Violence Prevention Legal Forum.
