Family and friends of a Murri man who died in custody in Maryborough Queensland this week say his death shouldn’t have happened.
The family of Glen Francis say they were told by police that he died of natural causes, however it is understood that he had serious health conditions.
Spokesperson for the family, Aunty Alex Gator says Mr Francis’ mother made attempts to have her son transferred to the hospital because the prison doesn’t have facilities for proper treatment.
Aunty Alex is a part of a group called the Aboriginal Elders Alliance and says if all the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody were implemented, he wouldn’t have died.
