Ahead of the Federal Election this weekend, Indigenous education organisation Aurora is calling for a dedicated Minister for First Nations Education and a national Indigenous education peak body.
Currently there is neither, and Aurora CEO Leila Smith says important discussions about the role of education in building Indigenous leadership are also absent from the campaign trail.
Wiradjuri woman, Smith said these initiatives could be brought into effect with the stroke of a pen, with little timing, funding or political risk for an incoming government.
