A doctor in Far North Queensland says the flu has become a real concern since the lifting of COVID restrictions and mandates.

Dr Jason King from the Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services Aboriginal Corporation in Yarrabah says in the past there has been a lot of effort to drive up the rate of flu jabs among the adult population but health measures brought in since the onset of the pandemic such as hand washing, social distancing and mask wearing, made the flu disappeared.

However with the easing of restrictions and the resumption of international travel, the flu has become a threat again, particularly when combined with COVID.

Dr King says we need to get our flu shot and keep up with social distancing and good hygiene practices.
