The Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia is urging anyone who has concerns about their mental health to reach out and get the help they need.
The call comes ahead of Mental Health Week which begins on Saturday the 10th.
The organisation says it has found that seven out of ten people presenting to a GP have a mental health issue, and 54 per cent of those patients have not sought further assistance.
It is also understood that in some parts of Australia, police are attending mental health incidents every 10 mins.
The Fellowship’s CEO Tony Stevenson says we all need to be aware of our behavior as well as those around us.
