The Leukaemia Foundation says national action is needed in addressing an alarming rise in blood cancer rates across the country.

The comment comes following work by cancer experts and Indigenous medical professionals on investigating the scale of the problem and possible solutions.

The foundations is expecting to launch a national action plan for blood cancer soon.

Tim Murphy is the General Manager of Blood Cancer Partnerships at the Leukaemia Foundation told Bumma Bippera Media one thing they have learned is that there isn’t a lot known about the impact of blood cancers in Indigenous communities.

He says it’s crucial to have regular checks at your doctor.
