Bushfire warnings in Queensland have been downgraded to watch and act but the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are urging people to be careful and pay attention.

Around 50 bushfires have been burning across the state following Queensland’s hottest day in two years.

While earlier advice was to evacuate, that has now been downgraded to watch and act alerts with some residents able to return if safe to do so.

Conditions improved overnight, however Executive Manager of Bushfire Mitigation James Haig told the ABC it will get worse as the day moves on.
