The Indigenous Literacy Foundation’s latest publication, written by children from remote schools, is being released this week in coordination with Indigenous Literacy Day.
Written and illustrated by children from Tjuntjungjara, Mount Margaret and Menzies – The Goanna Was Hungry is the latest book published through the Community Literacy Project in association with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The event is being celebrated in Sydney and will be followed by the ‘Great Book Swap’ where hundreds of school children will bring in a gold coin donation and swap books to raise money for the Foundation.
Teaching principal at Tjuntjungjara, Charlie Klein, says the children were very excited to see their work for sale in a bookstore window.
