The peak for First Nations health in the Northern Territory backs calls from a land council to have all workers vaccinated before entering Aboriginal communities.
Last week the Northern Land Council called for all workers entering Aboriginal communities to get the COVID 19 vaccine and say they will review all current permits.
Northern Land Council Chairman Samuel Bush-Blanasi says they will be reviewing permits urgently because they are hearing from Traditional Owners that they don’t want unvaccinated workers in their communities.
Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance NT CEO John Paterson says other sectors are bringing in the same requirements.
Health Sector struggling with workforce numbers
Mr Paterson says he is heartened by an uptake in mob getting vaccinated but there is a real problem of a staff shortage in the sector.
He says both First Nations and mainstream health services are feeling it and governments need to act.
