The director of Boomerang Festival is appealing to the public to get on board and chip in to help the festival become a standalone event once again.
The Boomerang Festival is hosted by the Bundjalung people on the north coast of New South Wales and aims to promote Indigenous song and dance with a strong emphasis on culture and emerging artists.
While the festival began in late 2013 as an annual event, it was soon dropped to a biannual event due to a withdrawal of funding and subsequent failed attempts to access government funding, saw the Boomerang Festival rolled into the Byron Bay Blues Fest.
Bundjalung woman Rhoda Roberts says she aims to shift the Boomerang Festival back to a standalone event and hopes businesses and the public can help by donating.
