The Northern Territory has reported 625 new cases of COVID-19 with outbreaks detected across remote Indigenous communities.
Aboriginal residents have tested positive in communities from Arnhem Land south to Central Australia, Health Minister Natasha Fyles says.
Among the newly infected are eight people in Utopia, seven in Areyonga and three in Papunya.
Eight new cases were also detected in Galiwink’u where a lockdown was brought into place yesterday.
An outbreak in Yuendumu has also grown by nine cases, bringing the total in that cluster to 66.
Minister Fyles says the increase was not unexpected given lower testing numbers over the weekend.
