The 2016 Bathurst 1000 continues to be mired in controversy after the crash in the last laps that saw Jamie Whincup penalised with a 15 second penalty.
The penalty meant the race was won by Wil Davison and Jonathon Webb after the incident with Shincup forced Garth Tander and Scott McLaughlan out of the race.
Whincup (pictured at left) has been roundly criticized for the manouver that ultimately cost him the race but he said after the finish that he was confident his driving was not the cause of the accident.
